World War One United Daughter's of the Confederacy (UDC) Cross of Military Service. This medal is numbered 4228 on the reverse and manufacturer marked Medallic Art Co. The brooch is a replacement. The UDC created these medals to recognize military service during WW1 by lineal descendants of Confederate soldiers and sailors. The medals were made available upon application of the veteran.
