Autograph album containing the signatures of over 250 Federal officers who were incarcerated in Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia. The skillfully illustrated and calligraphed title page bears the name of 1st Lt. Josephus F. Schuyler, 123rd Ohio Infantry, who was captured at Winchester on June 15th, 1863; the clipped cdv portrait opposite is of Lt. Schuyler himself.

Autographs include those of officers from various regiments including the 1st and 2nd United States Cavalry; 3rd Ohio Infantry; 116th Ohio Infantry; 9th Maryland Infantry (US); 12th Virginia Infantry (US); among others. The autograph of 2nd Lieutenant Henry Rees Whiting, Company A 24th Michigan Infantry is also present. As a member of the famed Iron Brigade, the 24th Michigan saw heavy combat on July 1st at the battle of Gettysburg. Lieutenant Whiting was captured during the battle and incarcerated in Libby Prison, but later paroled in March, 1864. He subsequently served as Aide-de-Camp on the staff of Fifth Corps General Crawford between February and June 1865 and was breveted Major for gallant and meritorious service at the battle of Five Forks.
