CIVIL WAR UNION ORDNANCE OFFICER’S SLOUCH HAT.

Black beaver felt slouch hat w/ a beautiful, oval bullion embroidered eagle holding up the right side of the brim. The front features a bullion embroidered Ordnance insignia. Around the crown of the hat is a high quality officer’s hat cord in black & bullion. 2 Ostrich feathers are attached to the left side of the hat w/ a silk covered button. Edge of brim has sewn reinforcements along w/ grosgrain tape reinforcements on the underside of the brim. Wonderful wide red Moroccan leather sweatband. Blue silk lining w/ gold impressed federal spray of arms in the crown. CONDITION: hat is well worn w/ several holes at the edge of the crown & some reinforcing material added to larger splits & holes in the crease of the crown. Edge of hat shows expected fading. There is a sm. reinforced area at the front brim & right side. Silk liner is a bit tattered w/ minor losses & wear through points.
