[ translate ]

Union Veteran Badge. Copper badge of the U.V.U. (United Veterans Union), a similar organization to the G.A.R. that began as a response to what some felt was elitism on the part of that group. The badge measures 1 1/4" x 3 1/4" overall. The front of the medal has a military display and the words "Unitate Veteranorum Unio". It has a patent date of 1879 and was designed by A. Demorest of New York. The reverse has a circle of stars. Excellent. 2) The Union Veterans Union was formed in 1886 by veterans who believed the much larger G.A.R. was not responding well to the local and immediate needs of Union army veterans. A pin at top with crossed swords has a red, yellow and blue ribbon from which is suspended a medal bearing other arms symbolizing branches of service: a naval anchor, the cannon of the artillery, and crossed rifles of infantry. Excellent Condition. 3) Union Veteran Legion (UVL) Officer's Membership Badge. Silvered bronze, measuring 38 mm (w) x 36.8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, light contact, original ribbon suspended from bronze gilt hanger bearing a bronze eagle on a navy blue background. Excellent.
