Halma]/ Gvilielmvm vande Water [..], 1697. 2 Vols.: [30],496,[135] and [16],758,[64 index] pp. With engraved frontisp., 2 engraved title-vignettes, 6 engraved plates by J. van Vianen after G. Hoet & several engraved text-ills. (dep. mainly coins & medals). 8vo (ca. 19,5 x 11,5 cm.), later unif. half-calf, gilt ribbed spine with 2 black calf letterpieces.

Rare late 17th-cent. scholarly edition of the extant works by the Greek poet Callimachus (ca. 310-ca. 240 BC) edited by the Dutch classical scholar Theodorus Georgius Graevius (1669-1692) & completed after his death by his father Johann Georg Graevius (1632-1703) accompanied by a separate published commentary by the Swiss scholar Ezekiel, Freiherr von Spanheim (1629-1710). Ex bibliotheca Adolf von den Velden (1853-1932, German chemist) with his book-plate mounted on upper paste-down. Ex bibliotheca Dr. Maria Frederika Jongkees-Vos (1933-2018, Dutch archaeologist). – A few minor imperfections (top of spine of vol. 2 sl. dam./ chipped, upper joint of vol. 2 weakening, bindings sl. rubbed/ worn along extremities, partly foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractively bound set in good condition.
