Complete set (printed in Leipzig by “Ex Officina Breitkopfiana”) of a rare 18th-cent. scholarly edition of the extant works by the Greek historian Polybius (ca. 200-ca. 118 BC) with parallel Greek text & Latin translation (by Isaac Casaubon) edited by the German philologist Johann August Ernesti (1707-1781) based on the editions by the German classical scholar Johann Friedrich Gronovius (1611-1671) & the French classical scholar Isaac Casaubon (1559-1614). Ex bibliotheca L.J.W. Smit (1905-1991) with his book-plate mounted on upper paste-down. Ex bibliotheca Dr. Maria Frederika Jongkees-Vos (1933-2018, Dutch archaeologist). – A few minor imperfections (2 small tickets in lower part of spines, bindings sl. rubbed/ worn along extremities, partly foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractively bound set in good condition.
