Hagae-Comitum[=The Hague], Apud Petrum Gosse [..], 1726. 2 Vols.: [10],LXXXIX,[5],859,[1 blank] and [2],[861]-1240,244,[379 index] pp. With 2 ident. engraved frontispieces by P. van Cuyck & 1 engraved portrait (of Terence). Large 4to (ca. 24 x 18,5 cm.), early 18th-cent. unif. overlapping vellum.

Brunet V, 717 (“Édition fort recherchée à cause des commentaires et du bon index”). Complete set of a rare early 18th-cent. scholarly edition of the Latin comedies by the Roman playwright Publius Terentius Afer (ca. 195-ca. 159 BC) edited by the German-Dutch classical scholar Arnold Heinrich Westerhoff (ca. 1677-ca. 1737) comprising i.a. notes by the German philologist Friedrich Lindenbrog (1573-1648) & extensive indices (incl. concordance). Vol. I contains a bibliography of printed editions of Terence’s plays (published between 1469 and 1724). ¶ Both vols. with an early 19th-cent. Danish letterpress book-plate (“Skjenket til Fyens Stiftsbibliothek af Biskop Dr. Fr. Plum. 1834”) mounted on upper paste-down. A few minor imperfections (bindings sl. stained/ soiled, both titles with removed library-stamps (repaired with paper), both vols. sl. marg. waterstained, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an acceptable set.
