Complete set (printed in Beirut by “L’Imprimerie Catholique”) of a rare scholarly work by the Russian archaeologist Georgi Georgevich Tchalenko (1905-1987) comprising a description of the Limestone Massif (or Belus Massif) in northern Syria & the architectural remains from Roman times (incl. transcriptions of Greek, Syriac & Arabic inscriptions). Ex bibliotheca Dr. Maria Frederika Jongkees-Vos (1933-2018, Dutch archaeologist) with her owner’s entry in ink on title. – A few small imperfections (foot of spine of vol. III sl. dam., spine-ends & corners sl. bumped, wrappers sl. discol.), but nevertheless in good condition.
