Description EN
A pair of vases on foot. Dark brown and olive green patinated bronze. Base in black marble. Ears in the shape of a monster's head with a laurel wreath in the beak. Body with a frieze of Bacchus children in relief. Signature 'Clodion' top edge. On four sloping lion paws. Possible work from the first half of the 19th century. Lids are missing.
After the original in terra cotta from 1773, kept in the Hermitage museum in Saint Petersburg.

Paar vazen op voet. Donkerbruin en olijfgroen gepatineerd brons. Basis in zwarte marmer. Oren in de vorm van monsterkop met laurierkrans in de bek. Buik met fries van Bacchuskinderen in reliëf. Signatuur 'Clodion' bovenrand. Op vier schuine leeuwenpoten. Deksels ontbreken.
Naar het origineel in terra cotta uit 1773 bewaard in het Hermitage museum te Sint-Petersburg.

Paire de vases couverts. Bronze à patine brun foncé et vert olive. Les anses à tête de monstres chimériques retenant des guirlandes de laurier, le corps orné d'une frise d'enfants Bacchus. Signature 'Clodion' sur le bord supérieur. Le piédouche cannelé reposant sur un contre-socle en marbre noir.
Le modèle original fut créé en terre cuite vers 1773 et est conservé au Musée de l'Hermitage.
