##CLYFFORD STILL [USA] 1904-1980 [ATTR.] "RED ON RED" ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST COMPOSITION, ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED LOWER RIGHT, 130X100CMS, FRAMED.
CLYFFORD STILL [USA] 1904-1980 [attr.] "Red on Red" Untitled Abstract Expressionist Composition, oil on canvas, latter half 20thC, signed lower right, 130x100cms, framed. Condition fine. The artwork displays all the correct indicators relative to age, composition, technique & signature, compares well with known examplars, offered without any recorded past history. Clyfford Still (1904–1980) was a pioneering American painter and a key figure in the Abstract Expressionist movement, known for his large-scale, emotive works that explore the human experience through color and form. Clyfford Still’s painting process involved mixing his own oil paints and primarily using palette knives to apply the paint (though he also used brushes). Still used ladders to reach all areas of the stretched canvas, painting them upright, just as visitors experience them in the galleries. He preferred to paint on unprimed cotton duck canvas, which he sized with rabbit skin glue. Please read the Terms & Conditions of Auction before placing a bid. These T&C's are applicable to each lot in this Auction. Any available provenance or documentation will be included with the description, if not included, assume it to be unknown or missing. Most lots are either ex estate or storage, have not been submitted for authentication, verification or expertising and for this reason, some are offered UNRESERVED. It is the responsibility of intending buyers to do their own research and due diligence before submitting an offer. We do not offer returns or refunds - ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
