COLETTE: (1873-1954) French author, best known for her novella Gigi (1944). Colette commences her letter by stating ´Voici quelques autographes de "basse époque", mais si tu gardes les lettres des gens de théâtre, peut-être celles-ci t´amuseront-elles?´ (Translation: ´Here are a few autographs from the ‘dark ages’, but if you keep letters from people in the theatre world, perhaps you’ll find these amusing?´) and continues ´J´ai mal à la gorge et je suis, comme on dit à la chambre. Mais la même a été si pleine de soleil que je ne me plais pas beaucoup. Et si tu voyais, dans ce soleil, la chatte et son petit qui dansent des Hymnes à la lumiére!´ (Translation: ´ I’ve got a sore throat and I’m, as they say, in bed. But the room has been so full of sunshine that I don’t much like it. And if only you could see, in all that sunshine, the cat and her kitten dancing to ‘Hymns to the Light’!´).
