Revealing only modest color evolution—just a general lightening and bricking—the 2010 IX Estate features gently lifted, cedary aromas that beautifully accent a core of stewed berries. Full-bodied and silky in texture, this isn't quite as supple as the 2005 tasted alongside, but it offers a greater sense of structure and freshness. It's a huge success from a cool, late season (harvest took place October 17–20), made possible only because of a fanatical focus on managing the crop size to ensure ripening.
