COLT MATCH TARGET COMPETITION HBAR AR-15
SERIAL NUMBER: CMH030699. BARREL: 20". CALIBER: .223 REM. MANUFACTURED: circa 2001. This custom Colt M16A1 "Retro-Mod" clone is a masterfully executed hybrid rifle combining a precision, ban-era match grade lower foundation with an authentic, lightweight Vietnam-era top end. The lower receiver is a factory original Colt Match Target HBAR within the CMH030599 serial number range. Manufactured in the late 1990s or early 2000s during the post-1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban compliance era, this lower receiver features an unmachined internal steel sear block or web inside the receiver cavity. Remaining faithful to the lower's original late-90s factory configuration, it utilizes a standard M16A2 style polymer pistol grip featuring a single molded front finger groove alongside an authentic fixed A2 buttstock assembly. The top end of the rifle has been completely overhauled using an authentic M16A1 style slick-side upper receiver featuring a fixed A1 carry handle, a low-profile tool-adjusted rear sight wheel, and no shell deflector. Housed within this upper is a lightweight 20-inch pencil profile barrel custom-threaded to standard 1/2x28 pitch to accommodate a vintage-style three-prong flash hider. Iconic Vietnam-era triangle handguards are natively matched to the thin profile of the barrel. The assembly is anchored by a clean, mil-spec front sight tower featuring no stamps on the gas crossbar and internal cast mold marks ("O") on the right-side web. The rifle operates on a low-maintenance commercial-profile chrome bolt carrier group and what appears to be a NiBX coated trigger. Completing the vintage aesthetic is a classic Leapers 4x20mm carry-handle scope featuring a clean Duplex crosshair reticle. The optic mounts directly into the carry handle channel via a traditional thumb-screw, preserving an integrated "see-through" pathway so the shooter can seamlessly switch between the crosshairs and the iron sights. By choosing a true lightweight pencil barrel, the builder completely transformed the handling dynamics of the weapon, shedding the muzzle-heavy weight of the original 1990s bench rifle to deliver an authentic, fast-handling, and incredibly well-balanced 6.5-pound infantry configuration. The rifle also comes with (2) 10 round magazines, (1) 20 round magazine and a German made Colt M8A1 bayonet and scabbard. CONDITION: Very Good. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. It appears to have seen light use. Operates normally. MODERN 27-307
