COLT; a London made 1851 Navy pattern .36" six shot single action percussion cap revolver with ornate foliate scrollwork engraving, the 7 1/2" octagonal barrel inscribed 'ADDRESS COL: COLT. LONDON', the cylinder engraved with Naval engagement scene by W.L Ormsby, hammer engraved with dog's head and knurled spur, further scrollwork to both sides, slim walnut grips, London proof marks, overall length 33cm. London proof marks to barrel and cylinder. SN: 180, matching throughout, dating to 1853. Supplied in original red baize-lined fitted mahogany box with inset brass roundel to the lid, containing a hallmarked silver powder flask (Sheffield, sponsor's initials rubbed) with brass cap inscribed 'Colts Navy Flask, James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield', a further James Dixon & Sons oil dropper, a Colts patent bullet mould, a nipple key/turnscrew combination tool, a wooden handled pull-through, a later round multi-tool with embossed Colt horse and an empty tin of F Joyce & Co oil covered percussion caps.Condition Report - Please note that this lot is not suitable for our in-house postage service. Very minor pitting to cylinder (see additional pictures). Several minor scratches to grips and minor loss to butt(see additional pictures). Very small loss to inside back edge of left side of trigger guard (see additional picture). Holds at half cock, fires from full cock with good spring tension and cylinder cycles in correct manor, engraving possibly later addition.
