(Some staining, browning or spotting throughout.) Publisher's half brown roan (lacking upper cover, lower cover detached, broken). FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, with the Preface dated 19 March 1856. Colton's General Atlas differs from his World Atlas and American Atlas in that the maps are not printed within decorative borders, and the descriptive text is printed on the verso of the maps.
