First edition in French of the life of Christopher Columbus written by his son Ferdinand, one of the most important sources for the history of the European conquest of America, here translated from the first edition, in Italian (Venice 1571). Alden 681/27; Sabin 14677.

Two volumes, 12mo (160 x 90mm). (Repaired marginal tear to x4 in vol. 2.) Contemporary sprinkled calf, spines gilt in compartments. Provenance: bookplate of the bibliophile Jean Pierre Armand Sibeud de Ferriol (1817-1880).
