[ translate ]

MORSE CARBINE. Cal. 50. S# 751. This is the standard model of the Morse carbine. These rare Confederate breech loading carbines utilized Morse patent 50 caliber self contained reusable percussion cartridges. The serial number range on type III carbines range from about 400 to end of production about 1,000. This is a nice well patinaed all matching gun which would make a nice addition to any Confederate collection. CONDITION: good to very good overall. All S# parts matching along w/ matching assembly marks internally. Gun appears original & complete w/ restored hammer spur & repaired break at breech hinge. S# has been engraved at breech repair where it was lost during braising. Iron has dark “attic condition” brown/plum patina. Brass has mottled dark mustard patina w/ scattered cosmetic blemishes Stock is well fit, weathered w/ hand worn patina. Complete w/ rod & cleaning jag in butt.
