CONFEDERATE FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD
Confederate sword patterned from the Model 1831 French and Model 1832 US foot artillery swords. Cast brass one piece hilt consists of pommel, fish scale grip and quillon. Unlike the the US model 1832 which has 3 iron rivets affixed to the hilt , this one is peened through the pommel. The hilt on this sword is a crude copy of the US model. It has crude cast seams, and factory casting repairs. It has a 14 3/4" spear point, un-fullered blade that is 2 wide at the hilt. The blade has pitting throughout. The sword has been cleaned and is turning back to a patina state. A very interesting Confederate sword. Very Good
