CONFEDERATE GEORGIA MADE CAVALRY SABER.
This is a nice example of a saber most likely made by Louis Haiman of Columbus, Georgia. The sword has typical features seen w/ his products such as long tapered unstopped fuller, single iron wire wrap, soldered lap seamed scabbard w/ soldered throat & drag, brass mounts w/ lg. iron rings. CONDITION: very good overall, 36" blade is overall brown/gray w/ pitting. Scabbard body has brown iron patina & is especially nice, still retaining original soldered throat collar. Leather protective washer is replaced, oil cloth grip & iron wire wrap are sound w/ wear at high areas. (02-14596/JS). $4,000-5,000.
