Published in Vienna in 1764, the Constitutiones Insignis Ordinis Equitum S. Stephani Regis Apostolici documents the founding rules of the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen, promulgated under the authority of Maria Teresa. These works in folio format were printed by Joseph Kurzböck, official Viennese printer. The editions include five full-page engravings by Johann Ernst Mansfeld, depicting knights of the order, with the collars of the Order, medals and crosses. The text in Latin and German establishes the structure and ceremonial of the chivalric body established by imperial decree. The engravings reflect the symbolic components of the order, reinforcing the institutional tone. In excellent state of preservation. The binding in brown vellum, gilt-tooled with a floral fillet, in firm hard covers, with all pages intact. Nine compartments on the spine. The engravings are undamaged. Edges of the leaves gilt and burnished.
