CONTINENTAL PARIAN FIGURAL GROUP OF ARIADNE AND PANTHER, modelled after original life-size marble work by the German Sculptor Johann Heinrich Dannecker (1758-1841), featuring a nude woman astride a standing wild cat wearing a collar on an ovoid base. Impressed "130" to side of base, otherwise unmarked. Second half 19th century. 11 1/2" HOA, base 9 3/4" x 4 7/8".

Condition Report: Panther having a hairline extending from top of head to front of chest and a minor chip to underside of base, a minor flake to side of base, and some minor scattered scuff marks.
