Condition Report:
The canvas appears to be unlined but there ate extensive areas of paint shrinkages, stretcher marks and areas of paint loss. Under UV light there are broad areas of retouching. The paint surface is very uneven and bitumen damage is visible in various places. Old damages and repair also visible. There is a thick layer of surface dirt and discoloured varnish.
We think the ventriloquists dummy and probably the stand he is resting on is added at a later date, but it is difficult to tell how much more as the picture has a thick layer of tinted varnish
