HAGAR AND ISHMAEL
oil on canvas
41¼ by 31 in.
104.8 by 78.7 cm
Condition Report:
Not examined out of the frame. Lined. The surface presents well and maintains fresh colors. There is barely perceptible, fine craquelure; a few dots of accretion; and a nearly invisible, tiny pin dot loss on Hagar's nose. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly and in a streaky manner at lower left. There is a 9 inch long vertical restoration, 'W' shaped at its lower end, that extends along Ishmael's proper left upper arm. Additionally there is a 1 inch area of inpainting to Hagar's mouth; isolated fine dashes of inpainting to address prior craquelure on the figures, their clothing and in the background at left; some additional very fine retouches to Hagar and Ishmael's skin and in the background; and possible strengthening to Ishmael's hair.
