CONVERTED MODEL 1816 US FLINTLOCK MUSKET
SERIAL NSN. BARREL 42". BORE .69. This example was made at the Springfield Armory in 1832 and is so stamped on the lock. The pan has been filled and rifle converted to the percussion ignition system. The vast majority of these conversions were still being used in the Civil War and many of those stored in Southern facilities were readily adopted by the Confederacy. Features three bands, sling swivels, period ramrod and one piece walnut stock. The barrel had no rear sight nor was it rifled. Metal is now a smooth patina. Stock is in excellent condition with usual bruises but handsome. Really clean example. A
