Small Looking Glass in aging and fatigued frame, holding ancient glass, and having an 18th c. note on back that reads "This glass was brought on the Mayflower. It was the property of Mary Chilton who was the first white woman that trod the soil of America north of the James River". Transcribed on the card of Mrs. Howard B. Jackson of Chappaqua, NY., a descendent of Gen. Israel Putnam, who had lineage back to Mary Chilton. 13" x 7 1/2". Condition as might be expected. PROVENANCE: From the estate of General Donald Armstrong, Brig. Gen., U.S. Army (1889-1984).
