Heading:
Author:
Title: CRIME PATROL No. 8 [2nd Issue]
Place Published:
Publisher:EC [Indicia: I.C. Publishing Co., Inc.]
Date Published: Fall, 1948
Description:

CGC certified: VG- (3.5). Cream to off-white pages. Cover: Johnny Craig. Art: Henry Kiefer, Ed Waldman, Ann Brewster. CGC census: 8 graded copies. GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. Only three confirmed CGC sales in any grade, the most recent being a 9.4 sold for $5250 in June 2021.

Craig cover: Cops give a hardboiled yegg the over-easy. Inside, a car thief dies ironically in his flaming vehicle ("This metal's burnin' up! Sure is a HOT car!"). Despite Craig's cover, the guts of this transitional pre-Trend mag are packed with hacks, including Classics Illustrated stalwart Harry Kiefer and former Iger Shop inkers Ed Waldman and Ann Brewster. Bill Spicer has remarked that Brewster's work shows the influence of yet another Iger shopper, Bob Webb, thus making "a pleasant transition to the heavily Webb-influenced art of Al Feldstein," who makes his Crime Patrol debut in the following ish.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
