CROSS-SHAPED PENDANT
Byzantine, 5th to 7th century.
Gold. Each arm has a pentagonal cross-section, tapering towards the center, the ends decorated with fine pearl beading. The center with a sapphire cabochon, framed by a pearl frieze. The eyelet, likewise with a pearl frieze.
H 7.1 cm, W 6 cm.
