Corrales was a member of the Partido Socialista Popular during the 1950s and worked as a photographer for the party's newspaper. He joined the Communist Party of Cuba after the revolution and became one of Fidel Castro's official photographers.
"La Caballeria," or the Cavalry, depicts a group of smiling victorious horse-riding rebels on a dirt road, seemingly emerging from a densely clouded sky, Cuban flags waving. This iconic image is considered the most beautiful and symbolic image of the Cuban Revolution.
