‘CURE’ FOR HYDROPHOBIA
Description:
Holograph manuscript, 9pp. sm. folio, written by an unknown author and containing the ‘cure' for hydrophobia, an irrational fear of water resulting from a rabies infection. This manuscript also contains several ‘cures' for various other illnesses, including rheumatism, weak eyes, corns, poisons, cough, dysentery, asthma, gonorrhea, incontinence, etc. Affixed to front cover beneath the hydrophobia remedy are articles from ‘The Daily Eagle' between 1876 and 1878, indicating this manuscript was written ca. 1870s. Glue remnants on the cover, light spotting throughout. An intriguing find from the ‘cure-all' era of medicine in America.
