Cabinet - Oak - 17th century

[ translate ]

Early closet, very special, the large deep medallions in the panels appear on wood engravings (1450-1590) from before the Renaissance in western Europe. In terms of style still medieval. Yet this closet could very well have been made in the country in the 17th century, it is only medieval in character. But it can also very well be 16th century. In that period we see less national differences. They become much stronger after the Renaissance. It could therefore very well have been made in the Netherlands, but also in Flanders or France or Germany. The hinges are also original and early. They seem to have melted a little - this it how it looks after a long time. Quarter-sawn oak. Lock is 18th century and so later than the original lock, you can see a former keyhole in the style. The back shelves were replaced at a later time. 18th century. With the lock? Perhaps nice to see; the last picture is from a closet of a Belgian designer who worked in a Brutalist style in the 1950s. TRANSPORT: I can deliver to the German Ruhr area and Belgium for €150. 00. Please note that the site automatically gives you a higher price. Please contact me.
