Cadillac - Fleetwood 75 - 1962

[ translate ]

1962 Cadillac 62 S Fleetwood delivered to the Spanish Government in the 1960s. One of the units acquired to be used by dictator Francisco Franco and his entourage. These vehicles were used in the 1960s for the usual transport and long trips of the Head of State, his family, leaders of the highest rank and visits of foreign heads of state. It is said that this car was among Franco’s favourites due to its comfort. Includes the original hand-painted burlap flags. Among the luxuries available in these rolling living rooms are the most powerful air conditioning equipment on the market with flow and temperature controls at the rear, an electric glass screen between driver and passenger for private conversations, rear seats for the entourage, electric windows, comfort and safety settings, and deluxe details, such as the analog watch on the central console or chrome plating inside and outside. The vehicle is not armoured, but it was always accompanied by an retinue of the Spanish Guardia Civil with their Sanglas and an important pre-security deployment. This unit is in very good condition, it has undergone a thorough restoration, including the following parts: Anti-corrosion treatment of underbody and engine compartment. Replacement of exhaust system. Welding of original exhaust manifold. Brake master cylinder replacement. Light bulbs replacement. Replacement of spark plugs and ignition. Outer paintwork. Polishing and ceramic protection. Chrome plating of external parts. Complete fluids and filters service. The interior remains unchanged to preserve the history of this car in particular. Some components, such as the radio and the antenna, do not work, but they should be easy to fix. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a part of the history of Spain that has only had two owners since it was auctioned in 1977. Of the units that arrived in Spain, this is certainly the one preserved in best condition. The car is in Madrid, Spain. The car will be on display at the Catawiki stand at the Retromóvil fair in Madrid, between 29th November and 1st December. It is advisable to view the vehicle before bidding, to avoid any disappointment afterwards. For an appointment to see the vehicle, please contact Catawiki.
