Long before software like Photoshop could be used, for viewers and designers was usual to retouch a photographic puzzle or a photo of a model, in real or reduced scale, to define, with absolute precision, shapes, lines, graphics of the style they intended to express. The car is based on the Alfa Romeo Alfasud and the initial instructions given by Alfa Romeo were for a car not intended for series production. Giugiaro was able to use his creativity to present a car far off the grid with the windshield connected with the doors that rises to allow the access. This solution had already been used by Giugiaro in other prototypes, such as the 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Testudo.
