Calcite "Carrot Kachina" Dalnegorsk, Dalnegorsk Urban District, Primorsky Krai, Russia "A pink somewhat diverging pink calcite crystal with secondary calcite balls and calcite crystals." - Rock H. Currier Depending on your background and dietary fetishes, a quick glance at this pastel wonder may conjure up associations and memories of comestibles encountered in childhood, or, seedy restaurants while traveling. We're leaning toward a carrot motif, or perhaps a stylized Hopi Kachina, if food isn't the first thing to come to mind. In any event this pale pink group of Calcite crystals displays intriguing form and color. Luster is the 'satiny' sort, that pink Dalnegorsk Calcites all seem to possess. The given locality, coupled with the pink tint, indicates that this specimen is Calcite-var: Magano-Calcite, and it will glow under UV illumination. A glowing carrot? Could also be a waffle-cone with weird nuts on top? There is a custom acrylic stand. Overall Measurements: 2.6 x 7.4 x 2.6 inches (6.7 x 18.8 x 6.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: RHC #6200, acquired 1996 [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
