Calcite var. Twin Egremont, Copeland, Cumbria, England, UK "A wonderful sharp shiny fairly transparent white twinned calcite crystal of about 3 inches. Traded this specimen from the George Vaux collection at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia when Harold Arndt was still curator." - Rock H. Currier In the shadowy world of Clandestine Calcite Crystal Collecting, there are more forms, than there are people at a varsity football game in Herndon, Kansas, on Saturday night. Back when Mr. Vaux was collecting, the selection was a bit more restricted than it is today. At that time the "heart" shaped twins from Egremont stole the show. They still do ... even if the number of identified Calcite forms is now approaching infinity. Purchased from premier dealer of the era, George English, in 1892, there is original Vaux label and a custom acrylic base. Overall Measurements: 3.0 x 2.6 x 1.0 inches (7.5 x 6.5 x 2.5 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Bryn Mawr College, Ex. George Vaux [purchased from George English 1892] Collections [RHC #1875, acquired 1972] MinID FYK-JAJ [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
