Calligraphy Couplet, China, John Way (1921-2012) [Wei Letang], two five-character calligraphy works written in regular script, together meaning "Fragrance of orchids fills the greenhouse; Bright moonlight lights the study," signed in oracle script with two seals along the left edge, each calligraphy 52 1/4 x 13 in.
Provenance: The family of the artist. Way was a student of Li Zhonqian, and C.C. Wang described Way's brushwork as "powerful, direct, free and spontaneous, like the dynamic movements of a dragon" in 2000.
