Calligraphy by Yu Youren Given to Benyuan
A Chinese calligraphy in ink on paper by Yu Youren with a dedication to Benyuan. The calligraphy has 1 seal and it is mounted on a silk backing with silk dowels.
Dimensions are: 34 inches tall X 19 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The calligraphy has creasing and minor spotting and staining.
Provenance: From a direct descendant of Liu Zhengdong (1897-1987). Liu Zhendong was an economist and jurist of the Republic of China. In 1916, Liu Zhendong entered the preparatory course of Peking University Law School. In the fall of 1920, Liu Zhendong finished his doctorate in economics at Columbia University.Upon his return to China in 1927, Liu Zhendong served as professor and department head of the Department of Economics of the National Central University in Nanjing. In 1941, Liu Zhendong served as a member and secretary general of the National Monopoly Design Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the National Government. In 1947, he served as a member of the National Economic Council and director of the Central Bank. 來自劉振東先生子女。劉振東（1897年－1987年）字鐸山，。中華民國經濟學家、法學家。1916年，劉振東入北京大學法學院預科，1919年畢業。1919年五四運動爆發，劉振東為學生領袖。1920年秋，劉振東考取山東省公費赴美國留學，入哥倫比亞大學，後來獲得哥倫比亞經濟學博士學位。1927年歸國後，劉振東先後加入中國經濟學社、中國地政學會、學藝學社等學術團體。1927年，劉振東任廣州國立中山大學教授。1928年到南京，任國立中央大學經濟系教授兼系主任。1929年，任中央政治學校教務副主任兼財政系主任。除授課外，他還先後著有《中國之新幣制問題》、《中國幣制改造問題與有限銀本體制》等書，力主中國實行有限銀本位制。1935年，劉振東任國民政府立法院立法委員。1941年，劉振東任國民政府財政部國家專賣事業設計委員會委員兼秘書長。 1945年後，擔任國民政府財政部全國財務人員訓練所教育長。1946年，當選為制憲國民大會代表，起草了《國民經濟及社會安全》條文。1947年，出任全國經濟委員會委員兼中央銀行處處長。1948年，當選為立法院立法委員。第二次國共內戰末期，劉振東離開中國大陸，最終到達台灣，繼續擔任立法委員。
