John Hays Hammond, who is making a short visit to Porto Rico. He is a man who has my absolute confidence. I have asked him to call upon you while he is there and thought perhaps it might be an opportunity for you to send me through him any information that you thought it would be desirable for me to have. I am exceedingly pleased with the reports that come to me of the successful administration of your offices." In very good to fine condition, with staining along the central horizontal fold. Hammond was a noted mining engineer, diplomat, and philanthropist.
