Campo del Cielo Meteorite Iron, IAB-MG Chaco, Argentina Found: 1576 Exhibiting an extremely sculptural natural shape, this considerable offering of the famous Campo del Cielo Iron, IAB-MG from Argentina, is rather visually remarkable. A classic brownish overall coloration with accents of reddish patina covers the many dynamic and textural faces. Subtle curves flow across the piece that weighs a substantial 2.7 kilograms (5.9 pounds). Representing one of the most iconic of the octahedrite meteorites and a fall that produced the largest amount of total fragment weight of any meteorite find, this piece is an ideal example of a true classic. Other than a single patch of smooth fused material without the same texture, this extraterrestrial wonder is consistent and aesthetic, with a visual appeal from every side and angle. Any meteorite collection should have at least one "Campo" of reasonable size and value, and this is the ideal acquisition specimen for a collector looking to find one. Measurements: 5.68 x 3.69 x 3.66 inches (14.43 x 9.36 x 9.30 cm), weighs 2,657.4 grams HID09710052018 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
