Canada Goose decoy from South Shore of L.I.

Canada Goose decoy from South Shore of L.I. The solid body has two 1/2'' bottom boards plus an additional 2'' bottom board which has been shaped and tapered to the tail. The heavy iron chain ballast does not hang from the center but rather left of center. This added bottom board must have helped the decoy ride higher in the open water. The head is inlayed held by three flat head nails. Appears to be in original paint. Provenance: Acquired by descent from Dr. George R. Brush, of the settling Brush family of Southold, Long Island, New York.
