Candelabra (2) - Wood - Japan - 19th century
A few varnished wooden shovels decorated with engraved gold-plated metal applications. The bases and binets are shaped like stylised chrysanthemums have some missing varnish, which is normal considering they have been used for years at the Buddhist temples where they were placed. Please view the photos. Japan, Meiji period. Height: 77 cm Are fairly rare, you don't see them very often. I saw a few that were sold a number of years ago in the UK at 2400 pounds.
