"The Little Savage" by Captain Frederick Marryat, published by Harper & Brothers, New York, 1859, early US edition.

Hard boards, original embossed cloth [some wear and a few cloth damages on spine: see photo]; 5.1/4" x 7.3/4"; 250 pages, a few stains [foxing], very good condition.

This work follows a cast-away boy living on an island. Captain Frederick Marryat (1792-1848) was a British Royal Navy officer, writer and children's novelist, known for being an early author of nautical fiction. His works were admired by the likes of Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway, the most famous being his semi-autobiographical 'Mr. Midshipman Easy' and the children's novel 'The Children of the New Forest'
