Captured WW1 German Mauser 98/05 Bayonet, good example of a standard Imperial German Model 98/05 Mauser bayonet with two piece wooden grips. Steel hilt and cross guard. Housed in its steel scabbard with old paper capture label affixed, inked “Group Capt J N Sones”. Standard swollen blade with fuller to the back edge. Spine stamped with crowned acceptance stamp and ‘17’ for 1917. Blade also marked “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.G. OBERNDORF a.N“. Blade 36 ½ cms, overall 52cms.
