Known for: Rural farm scenes, domestic animals-pets, poultry
Biography: Jutz passion applied to animal painting. He received early inspiration from the Dutch painter August Knip (1777-1847), who stayed in Baden-Baden and instructed Jutz in animal painting. In 1861 he moved to Munich, where he made the acquaintance of Ludwig Willroider and Anton Braith, among others, and under their influence devoted himself exclusively to animal painting. On his travels Jutz made contacts with Düsseldorf painters and in 1867 he moved to Düsseldorf. Even during his lifetime, his paintings met with great interest and were shown at national and international exhibitions. As early as 1867 Jutz exhibited at the Paris World Exhibition, in 1879 in Sydney, where he received a medal, and in 1881 at the World Exhibition in Melbourne. His main works were particularly popular in England and the USA, but German museums in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Breslau and Konigsberg also secured paintings from his work during the painter's lifetime.
