Carlo Dolci (After) - "Madonna of the finger"

[ translate ]

The painting must be attributed to the artists of the Roman-Neoclassical school of 1800. From the 1850s, they abandoned the classical themes, and drew inspiration from the religious subjects, painted from great masters of the 17th century like Carlo Dolci.
. The iconography is linked to the image of the Virgin: the Finger's Madonna, a very widespread representation of the 1600s, of which the Florentine painter Carlo Dolci has been worthy portraitist.
. The painting, despite having been restored, has preserved its nineteenth-century pictorial patina and reveals a refined execution.
. On the back, the inscription with a dedication, which refers to the painting as a gift between friends, confirms the year at which the painting belongs: "30 9mbre1874".
. Provenance: Important Roman Family and Attached expertise
