Inscribed on the letter ''Alla Santità di Papa Clemente IX / per / Carlo Maratti'' and dated on the bell ''1669'' (restorations) The painting is a version of the prototype by Carlo Maratta, preserved in Musei Vaticani, of which many versions are known. We thank Professor Francesco Petrucci for confirming, on a photographic basis, the attribution to Carlo Maratta and workshop.
