Carpet, Kirman Lavar 265 x 365 cm - Wool on Cotton - Early 20th century

Please note: Rug purchased in Italy from an antique dealer in the early 1970s and subsequently owned by a private collector, therefore certainly imported to Italy from Iran before 1 January 2015. It comes with certificate of authenticity. Exclusive and fine antique Kirman carpet, richly decorated with floral motifs and natural/vegetable colours, Art Nouveau style and taste, with frame and knotting typical of the Lavar area (Ravar) . Fine wool fleece, shiny, with bright colours, extremely resistant (considering the age of the object) , cotton warp and weft. Carpet from Iran dating back to the early decades of the 1900s (1920s) ; the object is about 100 years old. The carpet was hand-knotted in the ancient village of Lavar (Ravar) ; it features rich and extremely detailed decorations, a very large number of knots, approximately 800,000 / 900,000 units per square meter (as shown by the measurements in the detailed photographs of its back) , and a thickness of approximately 0. 5 / 0. 7 cm. The carpet comes from a private residence, it has been professionally washed and always kept in a non-trafficked area. It was treated as a decorative item and therefore, as shown in the photos, it is in excellent condition, flawless, suitable for hanging on a wall.
