Carpet, Naha wall 223 x 310 cm - Wool on Cotton - First half 20th century

Beautiful Nahavand from the Hamadan area. Nahavand, Nahawand, is a small province and town south of Hamadan. The wool is remarkably beautiful - hand-spun and hand-coloured with vegetable dyes. This created 'abrash', a mixture of many shades of colour that give a lively effect. The colours, especially the blue, even seem to light up. (last photo) This can only be achieved with natural vegetable dyes. See the detailed photos. Made around 1950-1960. Not recently washed but clean and ready for use. This carpet is still so beautiful because it had a thick anti-slip rubber underlay. On request I will ship it but that will cost extra, for the transport costs.
