Carter 4117 Oversized Red Mottled Hard Rubber Fountain Pen Set
Carter 4117 oversized red mottled hard rubber fountain pen set, circa 1920's. Carter was well known for their ink production, produced high quality pens in hard rubber and celluloid from the mid 1920’s through to the early 1940’s, their rocker clip slips into a slot in the cap to decrease the chance of the clip being sprung through. They used many beautiful materials, some unique during their pen production. This example was the largest size made in the flattop model with rich red mottled hard rubber and Carter Inx Pen 14K fine nib. Length 5 3/8” (pencil), 5 5/8” (pen) and 7 1/8” posted, filling mechanism lever fill. Overall excellent condition, some light brassing to edges of bands and some spots on pencil nosecone, small tool marks to nib, sharp imprints with 4117 stamped on butt end of pen barrel. Pen was water tested and filled at time of listing.
