TLS

Jimmy Carter (1924-2024). A typed letter signed, "Jimmy Carter," 1p, on his personal letterhead embossed with the Carter Foundation's distinguished eagle emblem, 7.25" x 10.5", no place, September 17, 1987, to the California Bicentennial Foundation. Expected transmittal folds and light creases. Slight handling marks. Else, near fine.

Carter writes on behalf of himself as well as his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, to attend the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of United States Constitution. The Foundation was founded to promote public education and civic pride surrounding the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Carter heavily interacted with varied state and national historic commissions during and after his administration ,therefore it was not uncommon for the former President to attend an event such as this.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
