Caliber: mechanical, 15 jewels, signed European Watch and Clock

Case: 18k yellow gold, dial concealed beneath a spring loaded panel, case engine turned overall with of alternating geometric motif, the front panel folds back acting as a strut

Condition Report:
Case: The case is in overall good condition with light signs of use throughout commensurate with age. The case has aged nicely which is evident by the signs of patina. Gold mark on the side of the case is visible and clear.

Dial: The dial has likely been restored but is sympathetically done. A small waterstain on the dial beneath 7 o'clock.

Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
Cartier introduced their Eclipse watches for the pocket or handbag in 1929. Watches of this nature became popular with the growing ability to travel commercially. Popularly coined as travel clocks, the timepieces were subtle and portable, able to be used as a pocket watch, or set tableside as a desk timepiece.
